As the largest course management and development company in golf-laden Northern California, CourseCo has 35 public access facilities in its portfolio, along with two private clubs.

One of its best-known facilities is Pacific Grove Golf Links, which is just off 17-Mile Drive (near Pebble Beach) on California’s Monterey Peninsula. CourseCo also opened and operates Pullman, Washington’s Palouse Ridge Golf Club, named Links magazine’s Second-Best College Course.

Outside of California, CourseCo also manages golf properties in Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Texas, and Montana.

CourseCo has become an industry leader in the management category by viewing corporate growth as a by-product of excellent service, rather than a primary objective. Established in 1989, CourseCo has more than 1,600 team members, with its properties accounting for over $70 million in annual sales.

CourseCo’s services include golf operations, food and beverage operations, sales and marketing, community relations, agronomy, environmental management, construction management, and development services.

Since its inception, CourseCo has also proven to be one of the golf world’s foremost environmental stewards under the leadership of founder Tom Isaak. CourseCo has 18 golf courses under management that are recognized as Audubon Certified Cooperative Sanctuaries.

The company has received myriad environmental awards and recognition, including the Golf Digest/GCSAA Environmental Leaders in Golf National Award (five times), the Inaugural Community Environmental Award from the CGCOA, and the Inaugural NGF Award for Promotion of Public Golf and for Golf Course Maintenance. It is the only golf course management company to have received the State of California’s “highest and most prestigious environmental award” — the Governor’s Award for Environmental and Economic Leadership.

In 2019, CourseCo became the only management company to ever win the President’s Award by the Golf Course Superintendent’s Association for its dedication to (and leadership in) environmental sustainability in the golf industry.

The firm is also a fervent supporter of youth golf and a recipient of The First Tee Founders Award.

NGF Takeaways

CourseCo has increased its number of facilities under management by 30 percent over the past two years, positioning itself among a select group of operators with a portfolio of more than 20 properties. Only seven percent of the industry’s 231 management companies operate at least 20 facilities.

With more than 30 years in the business, CourseCo has never had a contract canceled.
