The largest privately held management company in the United States, Billy Casper Golf (BCG) owns or operates more than 160 golf courses in 26 states. With more than 130 municipal and daily-fee golf facilities among its stable, BCG is the country’s largest manager in the public play category.

Co-founded in 1989 by 51-time PGA TOUR winner and three-time major champion Billy Casper, eponymous Billy Casper Golf has since burgeoned its course ownership and management portfolio to a scope befitting its Hall of Fame namesake.

From public plays, resort destinations, driving ranges, community courses and private clubs, BCG has a laudable diversity in its portfolio.

“BCG is a leader in the industry because every course we manage is treated with the same care, dedication and commitment as if it’s our own,” said BCG Chairman and CEO Peter Hill, who has been recognized as one of the most powerful people in the golf industry.

Billy Casper Golf specializes in full-service course management as well assistance in specific segments such as course and property maintenance, staffing and training, career growth, clubhouse operations, food and beverage, merchandising, golf instruction, marketing and public relations, special events and financial management. It also has a boutique division, called Billy Casper Signature, that specializes in country club, resort and private club management.

Billy Casper Golf celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2019 with one of its largest growth periods ever, adding 19 golf courses to its portfolio — from three public courses in New Jersey to a high-end resort community in Hawaii.

In 2019, Billy Casper Golf spun off its public relations division, Buffalo Agency, into a separate company.

The new holding company, Buffalo Groupe, has already acquired three companies, while BCG remains its largest shareholder. Buffalo is one of the leading PR, content marketing and social strategy companies in the golf business, representing an ever-growing roster of leading and emerging golf brands and initiatives.

NGF Takeaways

Billy Casper Golf’s prominence as an operator in the municipal golf space is particularly noteworthy. The company makes data-driven decisions that, when paired with inspired content and design, yield high-performing marketing initiatives.

BCG has more than tripled the number of courses it manages over the past decade and also continues to grow golf experiences through creative, custom solutions. Among them is its innovative World’s Largest Golf Outing, an annual, national golf fundraiser which takes place simultaneously at over 110 BCG-managed courses and has raised more than $4 million to support military charities since its inception in 2011.

Billy Casper Golf has actively embraced change in the evolving golf industry, most recently partnering with GOLFZON for the International top 25 company’s expansion into North America under a new brand, ZSTRICT, and is well-positioned for continuing growth.
