AHEAD has been one of the top headwear brands in the golf business since being founded in 1995.

AHEAD is one of 20 worldwide brands owned by Swedish-based New Wave Group AB, among them sister company Cutter & Buck, a Pacific Northwest-based golf apparel manufacturer.

AHEAD, which was purchased by New Wave Group in 2011, is a leading hat supplier to the USGA, PGA of America, Ryder Cup and numerous PGA Tour events along with more than 5,000 green grass and resort shops worldwide.

The company counts Jack Nicklaus and Annika Sorenstam among those (along with more than 50 PGA Tour players) who wear its products exclusively.

AHEAD has also branched into apparel, with AHEAD men and Ahead Supply Company and the Kate Lord line for women. All showcase a full range of golf clothing, from shirts and shorts, and tops and skirts to pullovers and vests.

Also noteworthy with AHEAD is the leadership of CEO Anne Broholm, who is one of the few female heads of companies in the NGF GOLF 100. Before being named CEO of Ahead in 2012, Broholm was Vice President of the Golf Division of Cutter & Buck and prior to that was an executive with Imperial Headwear.

NGF Takeaways

AHEAD remains entrenched as one of the biggest names in golf when it comes to headwear, with logo hats sold in clubhouses around the country. The brand has been able to capitalize on the golf industry’s desire for high-quality graphics on headwear and an array of garments. One of the most significant aspects of AHEAD’s business has been its custom embroidery capabilities and the innovation of logo printing and materials.
