State Golf Status: Arizona

by National Golf Foundation

April 2020

In Arizona, 91% of golf courses are open as of April 8 — 277 in total. While there is a stay-at-home, stay-healthy order in place for all state residents, golf courses are included on an expansive list of essential services.

Amid the global coronavirus crisis, the National Golf Foundation has undertaken an ongoing and exclusive U.S.-based course survey that spans all types of facilities — daily fee, private, municipal, resort and residential communities — to provide perspective on the percentage of courses that are currently open or have temporarily suspended golf operations.

In an effort to better understand what’s happening in various regions, NGF has also expanded its course tracking efforts to periodically evaluate individual states. This undertaking involves contacting every golf facility in a given state, focusing first on states in the southern half of the country as they’re more likely to be “in season” and then expanding nationwide.
